The Peru Church celebrated 175 years of existence in 2021.

Pastor Melissa O’Brien.

Pastor Melissa O’Brien is in her tenth year of ministry in the Vermont Conference UCC. She holds an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont and an M.A. in Pastoral Care from the Fordham School of Religion. She has served as a hospital chaplain and a hospice chaplain. She and her partner, Sverre, try hard to keep track of their (collective) six kids and two grandchildren, though they are spread from Maine to Colorado to Lake Tahoe. Nothing gives them more pleasure than spending time with family.

While Peru Church does not have committees, they do form work groups when a project arises. These have included large community-wide picnics, a summer concert series and a Christmas Eve bonfire on the Village Green. We serve the needs of our mountain towns when need arises and in whatever creative way makes sense.

The heart of Peru Church’s hospitality is a group of dedicated deacons who help organize events, provide for our weekly post-service coffee gathering and greet friends as they arrive on Sunday mornings.
